George Lewis's Story

Life Hi Everyone: Since High School while working for Big Apple Supermarkets In Atlanta, Ga. I spent 7-yrs. with them. I then went to work for the old Retail Clerks Union Local 1063, AFL-CIO. which was the Union that represented the food store workers now known as the UFCW Union AFL-CIO whom, I went to work for and spent 35-1/2 yrs. with and retired as one of their International Vice Presidents serving on the Exective Board of the National Union in Washington, D,C. on December 31, 2003. While working and making my career with the Union I was able to attend different colleges pursing Labor Law for working people and recieved a Master Degree in Labor Law from Harvard Unviresty. I got married out of high school in December of 1963, to Linda Carol Brown whom I dated while going to school at West Fulton High. Stayed married for 22-yrs, divorce waited remarried for the second time which lasted for 8-yrs, in Alabama. I am now single again looking for Ms. Right. My first marrige give me two find Boys George Jr, now 44-yrs of age and Christopher Scott Seidenfaden, now 33-yrs of age., who would have been had He not got killed last year in a motorcycle accident in Marietta, Georgia. Linda Passed away after a long battle with cancer on December 30, 2009 while living with my oldest son Lewis in Springville, Alabama. I have two wonderfull Grand Sons, Britt age 19-yrs, and Cody 15-yrs. After spending my life frighting for working Men and Women rights in the work place to have a Better Way of Life I decided to retire while my Health is Good and start Traveling, enjoying life to it's fullest. I now live in Springville, Alabama were I made this my home for 16-yrs of the 24-yrs that I been in Alabama. For those of you that remeber my Brothers and Sisters that are alive still live around the Atlanta Area. Of the ten brothers and sisters there are still a total of four of us living. William, Fronie, Minnie and myself. Thoses that are passed on Were Lorietta, Robert, Clarence, Sophie and Her twin Marcella and I loss my brother Charles October of last year 2009. his school was named George R. Fishburn my daddy told me they named the first part after me. This wasn't true of course. Our family moved to Atlanta, Ga. I then went to Home Park School. After finishing their I spend part of my time at West Fulton High School and the other part of my time at O'Keefe High School because our family moved several times while I was in High School. From State Street to Sixth Street and then Bankhead Highway. I finished high school at O'Keefe High the year of 1963. College I first started at Ski Moore in up State New York which was an all Girl School talking Labor Classes. From their Duke University, from their University of Texas at Austin from their to UAB Birmingham, Alabama then to the George Meany College of Labor and finished at Harvard University getting a Masters Degree in Labor Law which was my sucess in my Labor Career with the Union. All theses Colleges and University progress my Labor Career. Workplace While going to school at O'Keefe High I worked at Big Apple Supermarkets Food Stores in Atlanta, Ga. I went to work while in the D.E. Program. After finishing school I continued with the food company and became Shop Steward in the work place. I knew then this is what I wanted to do with my life, working to help people. The Union offer me a full-time Job a Union Business Agent. I later became a Union Organizer from their to a International Representative traveling for the National Union out of Washington, D.C. I then went to Alabama to be the President of UFCW Union Local 1657, AFL-CIO with a membership of (11,500) Members. After being their for a few years the National Union permoted me to one of their International Vice-Presidents traveling all over the United States and the Free World. It was a Great 35-1/2 Yrs, now retired as of December 31, 2003 enjoying two very nice pensions. Military I belong to The Alabama State Military Defence Force. I am currently a Captain in Rank. I was permoted from Chief Warrant Officer in October 2007., to my current rank. Igot another permotion in May of 2011, now Major: I always wanted to be a Businessman when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a fair idea. As it turns out, they were right. I became a Professional Person heloing others help themseves. I just like riding in my car driving and looking at the country side.
